Drinking is often associated with liver and many other diseases. Many people don’t realize that drinking in moderation can actually be healthy for you. Having a drink or two a night can actually help ward of Alzheimers as well as cardiovascular disease. This of course if the alcohol is drunk in moderation instead of binge drinking.

I think that it's good that you talked about possible positive effects of drinking alcohol. At the same time, I think it would have been better if you elaborated a little bit more on the subject and possibly attempted to show maybe how this could go along lowering the drinking age. Are there any effects long-term of consuming alcohol at a younger age that could be beneficial?

Wow.

I didn't know that moderation of alcohol can reduce the risk of Alzheimer's as well as cardiovascular disease. I find this very interesting because I only thought alcohol created bigger problems mentally and physically. Usually, I only think of what effects are when people constantly get drunk because, let's face it, most of the time, people don't drink in moderation because they want to feel the drunk sensation of alcohol. This is why people become addicted.
I'm glad that alcohol has some positive effects when consumed moderately. However, if people only drank with moderation, they would never get drunk, which defeats the purpose of drinking alcohol in the first place. I still believe alcohol will serve as a huge problem if the drinking age becomes legal.

As with almost anything, if you use a substance in moderation the negative effects are usually limited. As in alcohol, it can actually be helpful in the long run, but it involved only have a drink or to, which means you have to have the mentality to drink because you enjoy it, not drink to get drunk. The current mentality with many of the youths is to drink to get messed up. Making alcohol the forbidden fruit is helping to create an atmosphere to drink to get drunk.

The current mentality of drinking in the United States is very much so drinking to get drunk, especially in young adults. The question is why is America that way. If you look at other countries, it seems much more common to go the the pub and have a 'pint' instead of draining a keg.
